RCC DISCIPLESHIP
As Christians, we are called to reflect God’s glory to the world around us. This does not just happen on Sunday but in the daily events of our lives. In these ordinary moments God grows and matures us. Christian growth is not easy; it takes work. It’s not quick; it takes time. And it’s never finished; it continues our whole life.
Our Discipleship Groups are designed with this purpose… to learn what it means to be a true follower of Christ and reflect God’s glory daily in worship. I Corinthians 10:31 - So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.Psalm 73:25-26 - Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
In Discipleship Groups, we explore God’s Word together, pray, practice the one-another commands, and proclaim the gospel. As a part of God’s family, the church, we meet regularly to support and encourage each other towards spiritual maturity.

DISCIPLESHIP | ALIGNMENT PRINCIPLES
-Discipleship groups serve as vehicles for cultivating biblical community through practicing the one another commands:
Biblical community cannot take place apart from “one anothering”. Our responsibilities toward one another as God’s people reach far beyond the context of the Lord’s Day service. At RCC, our discipleship groups provide an environment in which we can live out the one-another commands and grow together in loving community.-
-Discipleship groups provide a context in which deeper relationships can develop between the members of RCC:
Discipleship groups are not the only context in which biblical community should be pursued. However, they provide a launchpad for relationships that reflect the love of our Triune God. We pray that these relationships will thrive and deepen both in our discipleship groups and beyond as our members grow in grace together.
-Discipleship groups give members the opportunity to dive into the Word of God together and encourage
one another to live in light of it:
We often fall into the trap of allowing a Lord’s Day sermon to become a sermon for the Lord’s Day alone. Instead, the preaching of the Word ought to shape every facet of our lives. Discipleship groups provide an opportunity for members to study the texts we are walking through on Sunday mornings together and exhort one another to live in light of the truths of Scripture.
-Discipleship groups provide the members of RCC with focused time to pray for one another with one another:
James writes, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (Jas. 5:16). According to the New Testament, prayer is both a private and a communal discipline. In our busy lives, it’s often easy to elevate the importance of private prayer while almost completely ignoring the biblical emphasis on the importance of praying with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Discipleship groups serve as a way for us to fight this tendency and cultivate healthy rhythms of interpersonal prayer within our local church.
